This session will explore key considerations for clinical practice when assessing and targeting morphosyntax in children with Developmental Language Disorder (DLD), including identifying morphosyntactic difficulties, setting intervention goals, and applying evidence-based approaches. It will conclude with a summary of research on optimising morphosyntax in children with DLD.

Dr Sam Calder
Dr Sam Calder is a speech pathologist, practice educator, researcher, and lecturer. He completed his undergraduate degree in linguistics at the University of Western Australia, and his Master of Speech Pathology and PhD in Human Communication Sciences at Curtin University. His PhD research evaluated the efficacy of a novel intervention to improve grammar outcomes for children with Developmental Language Disorder. He is currently a full-time senior lecturer at the University of Tasmania, and adjunct research fellow at Curtin University. Sam is passionate about improving our understanding of the origins and impact of Developmental Language Disorder, and how to improve outcomes to best support these children and young people to thrive and live life to their desired potential.

What is a Clinical Bite? A Clinical Bite is a webinar-style session that is primarily lecture-based. Cameras and microphones are not required for participants. While there is usually a Q&A session at the end where you can type questions to the presenter, the session does not involve interactive activities.
