Kate's mum, Michelle, says that being non-verbal doesn’t mean Kate can’t communicate. She uses a mix of some words, sign language, gestures and a PODD communication book, and is currently trialing a speech generating device.
Kate says that when she can communicate, it makes her feel calm.
