Meet Parker

Parker is a young man who loves photography, basketball and sky-diving. He has Developmental Language Disorder but he doesn’t let his difficulty understanding others and expressing himself stand in the way of living life to the fullest.

The best way for people to communicate with me is probably repeating stuff. That way I know what I’m doing. And going slowly, so talking slowly. And at school, they put it on the whiteboard.

Parkers thinks it is pretty important to be able to communicate with people, so you can get your point across and not be isolated or just by yourself.

Parker’s mum, Louise, feels strongly about communication as a basic right.

Communication should be everyone’s right. Whether you’re two, twelve or twenty-four, it shouldn’t matter. You should be able to communicate across the board.
