Join Amanda Hartmann for the third session of a five-part Clinical Bite series on AAC. This session focuses on supporting AAC users in a classroom context. It explores practical approaches to assisting teachers, classrooms and schools to implement AAC for both communication and learning.

Learning objectives
Upon completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Describe the role of AAC in supporting both communication and learning within classroom environments.
- Identify practical strategies to collaborate with teachers and school teams to embed AAC into everyday classroom routines.
- Explain AAC supports and intervention approaches that promote participation, access to curriculum, and shared responsibility across the classroom.
Who should attend
Registrants must be speech pathologists. It is an intermediate session, intended for participants who have some prior experience or understanding of the topic. This level explores concepts in greater depth, applies knowledge to more complex situations, and encourages reflection and skill development through practical examples.

Amanda Hartmann
Amanda is a Speech-Language Pathologist with over 25 years experience - experience which has led to a passion for working with children and young adults with disabilities. She has specialist skills and knowledge in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), literacy and technology. During her career she has presented on AAC and Assistive Technology to schools, organisations and at conferences both nationally and internationally. She currently divides her time between a busy private practice, as a consultant in AAC supporting teachers in classrooms, and at AssistiveWare. She also provides the AAC lectures to Speech Pathology students at the University of Queensland.

What is a Clinical Bite?
A Clinical Bite is a webinar-style session that is primarily lecture-based. Cameras and microphones are not required for participants. While there is usually a Q&A session at the end where you can type questions to the presenter, the session does not involve interactive activities.
Do I need a Zoom account to join?
No – most participants can join directly using the Zoom link provided. Occasionally, Zoom may prompt you to sign in, especially if you’re joining via a browser or mobile device. If that happens, you can create a free Zoom account or sign in to an existing one.
When will I receive the Zoom link for this Clinical Bite?
You’ll receive an email with the Zoom link, password, and session timing on the morning of the event. Please check your junk/spam folder if you don’t see it. Please note the time zone in the email. You can also access the link via your Learning Centre in the Learning Hub by clicking the ‘attend’ button.
Will this Clinical Bite be recorded?
Yes. This Clinical Bite will be recorded and turned into an On Demand product that includes the recording and workshop materials.
